Vitaly Petrov is reportedly close to being named as a Caterham driver, thanks, in part, to the sponsorship he will bring.
The Russian endured a forgettable 2012 season, but did provide the team’s best finish of the year with 11th in Brazil.
Caterham were said to be considering multiple options, including Heikki Kovalainen, but Turn Sanomat report that once Petrov’s sponsorship is received a deal will announced:
“(He’ll be named once) required sponsorship money has been paid into the team’s account.”
