The BBC have announced that Suzi Perry will move to Formula 1, taking up the lead presenter role for the 2013 season. Perry steps into the shoes of Jake Humphrey, who has left the role to present football for BT. Perry has many years of sports presenting experience, including a decade at the helm of the BBC’s MotoGP programmes.

Talking of the opportunity, she said: “Motorsport is my life and I’ve really missed being away from the the grid... Working alongside such an eminent team and the F1 world is a huge honour and I can’t wait to get started.”

Along with the confirmation of their new presenter, the BBC also revealed which races they will have the rights to show live in the coming year. They won’t start until the Chinese Grand Prix in April, they have Canada, Britain, Belgium and Italy, plus the season ending Brazil race in November.

Notably, they will not show the Monaco Grand Prix live, but do have the rights to the yet-to-be-announced race in July. The races they do not have live will continue to have extended highlights packages.
